“From The Hip” Photos of Life at Street Level

Salem Arts Association presents “From The Hip”, a Photography exhibition of images from the street. The streets are filled with stories. We’re challenging photographers to present the candid stories they find and capture at street level, showing us that moment of truth!

Salem Arts Association presents “Uncommon Threads”, an exhibition that redefines the use of fibers in art. Times have past on the quilting of old. In this exhibition we challenge the artists to discover new inspirations using fibers, fabrics, textiles of any kind, and inventive weaving.

Salem Arts Association Presents “Faint of Art”. Our annual PEM inspirational that allows local artists to interpret concepts of fear, suspense, and horror. Inspired by the Peabody Essex Museum’s exhibition of “It’s Alive! Classic Horror and Sci-Fi Art from the Kirk Hammett Collection”.

Submission Criteria: This exhibit is open non-members and current Salem Arts member artists who may submit work in any medium for the juror’s consideration. This exhibit encourages artists to submit images that adhere to our theme of “Fear, Suspense, and Horror”.

Holiday Artists’ Market  at Salem Old Town Hall

Salem Arts Association in collaboration with the City of Salem Public Art Commission and Salem Main Streets invites local artists and artisans to participate in this year’s Holiday Artists’ Market in the Old Town Hall, 32 Derby Square, Salem, MA.

The Holiday Artists’ Market will be Sunday, November 26, 2017, from 10-5pm with spaces of approx. 8’x 6’ for juried vendors with their artwork and creations. Spaces start at only $60 rental.

We've Moved

We're is pleased to announce our move to a new home at "The Bridge at 211" in Salem, MA. This facility will provide the Salem Arts Association with excellent gallery exhibition space, a gallery shop, workshop area, and event facilities. Salem Arts was founded in 2007 and this year celebrates our 10-year Anniversary. This new facility offers Salem Arts members, and the public, unprecedented exhibition and learning opportunities. Plus our new home allows Salem Arts to take advantage of performance and event space available at “The Bridge” and better deliver our mission “To bring art, in all its forms, to the community and bring the community, in all its diversity, to the arts in Salem, Massachusetts.”  


Upcoming events


Salem Arts Scholarships are awarded each spring to a students pursuing the arts either through a university program or through an art school. We offer two scholarships, The Paula Beaulieu Art Scholarship for $1000 to a Salem High School senior, and the Ellen Hardy Memorial Scholarships for $500 to any Salem resident graduating from a Salem school.
