    Salem Arts Festival

    ARTS WALK:
Meet the Artists on June 5th (around town, in studios, businesses and retail locations) and Meet the Artists on June 6th (en plein air, setting up throughout the downtown).

2010 Arts Walk 'Call For Artists'.

Update: GREAT RESPONSE FROM RETAILERS - MORE SPACE HAS BECOME AVAILABLE!

You can participate in either or both events. Some of the businesses that were part of our Open Studios in December are willing to sponsor artists and there are new businesses that want to participate as well. We will pick a minimum of 12 spots for artists to paint around town on the 6th, those who have already responded can let us know if they have a preference for a location. We're hoping to have some art work created during the ARTS WALK to be available for a special weekend show and auction to be held at the SAA Gallery. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go towards scholarships at Salem High School. Take-in will be June 9th, the Wednesday after the Salem Arts Festival, and the show will hang from June 10-13th with an auction held on Sunday the 13th. If you want to participate see this link:  2010 Arts Walk 'Call For Artists'.

The reception is SUNDAY, April 11, not SATURDAY, April 11

In April 2009 the Marblehead Arts Association, in collaboration with the Salem Arts Association, produced the extremely successful, "Green Show: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle." This year's collaborative exhibit in April will have an emphasis on water. We are looking forward to another stimulating and exciting show.

Water means many different things to many people. It is a vital ingredient of life. Though it is often a source of inspiration it can also be a destructive force. Some may imagine the light bouncing off the waves on a crisp September morning, while others may remember the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.

Marblehead and other coastal towns are exposed to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Over the years it has been a livelihood for many. For others the waters around the North Shore have been a source of great pleasure. Artists from the Marblehead Arts and Salem Arts Associations are invited to submit paintings, photographs, sculpture, mixed-media and other works of art depicting individual interpretations of what water means to them.
