    PEOPLE'S CHOICE:
    A Group show sponsored by the Salem Arts Association

    To open the 2013 season, the Salem Arts Association presents work in its gallery to be voted on by the public. Come by to visit and see what our members have been up to all winter!

    • All member artists are invited to submit 2 pieces

    Exhibition Timeline

      • Drop-Off Artwork on May 19, 2–4 & May 20, 6:30–8 p.m.
      • Pick up of work not accepted: May 23, 4–6 p.m.
      • Show Dates: May 23–Saturday, June 30

      Exhibit Dates: May 23–June 30. Accepted work must remain on view until the exhibit closes.

      Exhibition reception: Saturday, June 8, 4–6 p.m.

      Exhibit Location: Artists' Row, 24 New Derby St.

      Work Sought: All artists are invited to submit 2 pieces for voting by the public. No theme, bring your best work. It should be wired to hang, no saw tooths, and professionally presented.

      UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCOMMODATE INSTALLATIONS.

      Size Limits: Fits through the door.

      Eligibility: Open to all members.

      Fees: SAA Members, Free.

      Acceptance Notification:  Artists will be notified by e-mail if work is not accepted.

      Work Not Accepted:  Pick up on Thursday, May 23, 4–6 p.m.

      Exhibit Closing Pick-Up: Saturday, June 30, 3–5 p.m. IN-PERSON PICK-UP ONLY. No works will be mailed. SAA is not responsible for work damaged, lost, or stolen, after the deadline pick-up date.

      Insurance: Works of Fine Art and Craft with a value under $1000 are insured for catastrophic loss only. Works with a value of over $1000 are not insured by the SAA. Artists must provide their own insurance if they wish additional coverage.

                Artists At 7 Gables

      Salem, Ma. House Of Seven Gables
      Date: 18 Apr 2013 9:00 AM EDT

      ARTISTS at the 7 Gables:

      The Salem Arts Association is pleased to announce a collaborative effort, with the House of the Seven Gables, April 18th-25th.  It is an en plein air or outdoor art event.  Reception: Friday, April 26th, 5-8 PM

      April 18-25, 9:00 am -5:00pm  Salem Arts En Plein Air at The Gables

      • Open outside painting, photography, etc. with Salem Arts' Artists at The House of the Seven Gables
      • Artists receive free parking admission to our grounds
      • Artists may create artwork one or all of the days
      • Artists are responsible for their own lunch
      • Each artist is responsible for their own equipment
      • Any rubbish must be self-contained by each artist, i.e. carry in, carry out
      • No inside painting, photography, etc. or admission to The Gables house is allowed
      • Locations of artists’ s set up may have to move to accommodate group bookings or events on lawn or in garden.  If you cannot complete your work in one day, then consider taking a photo, in the event that you cannot return to the exact spot.
      • Artists will not be able to sell paintings while on our property except for the night of the reception with stipulations below
      • Artwork must be ready for display by Thursday, April 25th
      • The Gables is not responsible for any injury incurred by any artist or guest during this project either coming to, while on the property, or while going from The Gables

      • All sales split 50/50 with Gables

      Non-Members Register Online

        Participation is free to Salem Arts and Gables members.  $20 fee for non-members to cover the cost of advertising and event fees. Please register by Friday, April 12th.  Non-members, either register online or send your admission fee in the mail, payable to

        Salem Arts Festival 2013

        Want to be part of the fun?

        The Salem Arts Festival promotes the arts in downtown Salem through a collaborative festival for residents and visitors providing opportunities to highlight the existing artist community and encourage general community participation in the arts. The festival regularly draws over 4,000 visitors. The festival is looking for art and performance for the sophisticated art patron as well as for the art novice including interactive events for children. It will engage participants of diverse backgrounds and ages by reaching out to current art patrons, local students, and the community at large.

        Selected Art must be dropped off Friday, June 7 between 10 – 4 in Old Town Hall, Derby Square, Salem, MA and removed from that location Sunday, June 9 between 3 – 5 p.m. The artist does not need to be present but if you want the gallery to sell your work provide pricing information on the work exhibited. Artists are responsible to hang/display their work within the exhibit at their assigned space and should bring whatever materials necessary for the installation.

        Artists And Authors

        Welcome to the 3rd Annual Artists & Authors Winter Exhibition at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA

        Limited space is available to participate in our 3rd Annual Artists & Authors Winter Exhibition.

        Exhibit Date: February 28, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m.

        Artists must arrive by 5 p.m. and be set up completely before the 6 p.m. opening. Breakdown will occur directly after the event at 9 p.m. Tables will be provided by the Hawthorne Hotel.

        Work Sought: All Visual Artists are invited to show fine art work only, framed or presented professionally for sale. (Send 2 JPGs of actual work to be presented to the email address on the application form.) Writers and Poets whose work has been published are invited to present their publications for sale. (Send a JPG of your publication cover and/or your jacket bio pic.)

        Eligibility: Open to all artists 18+ (SAA Student Artist Member work is eligible for entry regardless of age).

        Fees: SAA Members, $20; Non-member, $30; Writers Groups $30

        DEADLINE: JAN 27, 2013 SAA

        Commission: SAA will not take commission on works sold. Table fees pay for room set-up, bartender, and promotional expenses.

        WINTER MARKET
        Please join the Salem Arts Association as it enters the "Winter Market" on Thursday, November 1st. This season during the "Winter Market" in place of the annual group show the Salem Arts will feature "Salem themed works" and "Holiday related art work", in addition to the regular Retail Gallery.

        Salem Arts Association will continue to operate throughout the Holiday Season during Winter Market Days, Thursdays, 3–6 p.m., and on Saturdays 12–6 p.m., and on First Fridays 4-8 p.m.

        Take-In is on Thursday, November 1, 3–6 p.m., and again on Friday, November 2, 4–8 p.m., or on Saturday, November 3, 12–6 p.m.

        A Group show sponsored by the Salem Arts Association
        August 30–September 30, 2012
        Opening Reception September 15, 4–6 p.m.

        Please submit one or 2 entries that represent the seasons; each entry may consist of up to 4 pieces. Each entry should not measure more than 30” in any dimension, including matting and framing if applicable. One piece representing one season could also be submitted as long as it is clearly a “seasonal” theme.
